We are an out-of-home coffee business committed to providing our customers with an ethical coffee for every cup! We continuously strive to maintain our position as pioneers in sustainable coffee production.
Human activity is rapidly changing the state of our environment and the coffee industry is feeling the effects. With our current lifestyle, we need almost two earths to meet all our needs. With coffee being a product of the land, our category is more reliant on a sustainable future than most.
Our corporate responsibility approach is made up of three pillars and covers our entire value chain from bean to cup.

We can only create a truly sustainable and ethical coffee industry if we work together. This pillar focuses on setting up relevant partnerships with NGOs, local governments and industry partners alike.
Common Grounds was established in 2018 in partnership with Rainforest Alliance™, reflecting our commitment to improving farmer livelihood and protecting our planet for future generation.
A coffee supplier engagement programme designed to continuously improve the social, economic and environmental conditions in regions where coffee is grown. The programme recognises that sustainable coffee production is a journey, not a fixed state.

The second pillar focuses on reducing our CO2 emissions, optimising existing processes and making our packaging recyclability. It’s important to us that we make a genuine effort to improve our waste and water management and reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption.
We believe step-by-step efforts pursued over time have a substantial impact.
We have been contributing in the following ways:
- Adopting leading water treatment technology at our manufacturing sites.
- Investing in more sustainable modes of transportation
- Working towards our goal of zero waste to landfill by 2021.

Our third pillar focuses entirely on you, our customers, our employees and the society which we are part of. Here we want to make a positive contribution to an inclusive society. By encouraging and supporting activities that promote connection between people, JDE strives to use coffee and tea as a tool to increase community engagement and support the vulnerable to whom such connections are not always available.
JDE currently has charitable community initiatives in more than 15 countries that support our philosophy, “It’s Amazing What Happens Over a Cup of Coffee’’.
